Using spray or dip methods, the pretreatment process starts with degreasing and proceeds to rinsing, surface conditioning, phosphating, rinsing and, finally, D.I. water rinsing, for complete body preparation.
In the degreasing process, oils and other impurities adhering to the surface to be painted are removed. Surface conditioning prevents any harmful effects of alkaline degreaser on phosphating, the next process. In the phosphating process, a zinc phosphate layer is created on the surface to increase corrosion resistance and improve paint adhesion. |
